I went to see Dale Chihuly: Mille
Fiori
(A Thousand Flowers) at the Tacoma Art Museum yesterday. Though
the picture does it absolutely no justice. The blurb on the website
says, "Mille Fiori is a glass garden of bold and unexpected
forms, rich and vibrant in color." It was amazing. It takes
your breath away as you walk into the room and see this extravagant
yellow ball of swirling glass. Countering it on the other end of
the room is a pillar of similar shapes that begins white and blends
to a brilliant blue. Both of these giant structures are surrounded
by a long
rectangular garden of glass. Colors & shapes forming just
that...a garden. And to think that tomorrow they are going to disassemble
it and put it in a warehouse. Sad, but true.
